Beep!

It was a normal morning for twenty year old James Anderson. He woke up to see the sun peeking through the blinds of his apartment. It was only six in the morning, "Damnit." He grunted and got up. That damn alarm clock needed to be fixed, "While I'm up, might as well." The small kitchen offered him some comfort, food was always a plus for him. Opening the refrigerator, he grabbed some eggs. It took about five minutes for his stove to warm.

The eggs were cracked and cooked sunny side up, his favorite. James sat down, smelling the delicious food. It was soon gone, all was left was the particles of the morning dish. He burped lightly, "Yum...now I've got to go to work."

James looked at the alarm clock: 6:25, he had time to take a shower and dress in his usual attire. He stripped and let the warm water hit his bare skin. It greeted him. Fifteen minutes went by again, and he was finished cleaning up. His hair was soaking wet. The towel dried him up and he went over to brush his teeth by the sink. James smiled at the mirror, flashing his white teeth. They had been clean since the day he was born. He put the minty toothpaste on his brush and began going over his pearls. Two minutes passed and he had finished. A total of thirty-two minutes when by.

James grabbed his suit, got dressed and went to depart on his workday. But first, he had to check the time. He needed to know if he was going to have to take the bus or the metro. The time read: 6:00. He yawned, "It's too early to go." Reluctantly he, walked over to the door, "Might as well check my mail." His shoes scuffed down the hallway as he walked. The hallway was dark, and empty. He coudn't see his own hands, but he still walked. He continued his path down it, his hand running along the walls. When you live in Los Angeles, the power would go out due to small earthquakes. It never worried James. James was a busy man who kept time well. He looked at his watch: 7:00. Sure enough he was running late, he needed to get to work or else he would lose his job. He began a meager sprint down the hall, ignoring his mail and ignoring everything else. The stairs were the best way to get down, if only he had seen them coming. He fell down the stairs, his bones crunching with every hit. Blood slowly began to fill his lungs. He was dying, his eyes slowly closed.
