Y’’s times like this where one really has to rethink one’s life. These past few months have made me question my loyalty more than ever before. But, I’m getting ahead of myself. Let me start from the beginning.

It all started when my old commander--who, in hindsight, was honestly a pretty crappy boss--escaped from imprisonment after twenty years. How I and so many of his followers managed to remain loyal to him after that long, I have no idea. But regardless, I was assigned to ensure three of his adversaries--heroes, I suppose you could say--did not escape from our base. Unfortunately, one of their friends managed to bust them out with an army of his own, assaulting our base from the only way it was reachable by land: a massive bridge. In the resulting clash, I fought them...and ultimately lost. Needless to say, my boss was not happy. After that incident, he increased the defenses around our base. They formed impenetrable barrier that would prevent anyone from reaching us...or at least, so we thought.

I next encountered the heroes when they participated in a naval assault against our base. I was assigned to hold them off...and once again, I failed. Not only that, but my partner, my best friend...was slain in the battle while trying to aid me. Then, to make matters worse, it turned out that the assault was just a front! After I was forced to flee and leave our forces to keep fighting, the heroes managed to somehow sneak past our defenses and disable them, granting them access to our base.

So then, this brings me to my final encounter with them. Once more, I assigned to stop the heroes, and prevent them from reaching my commander. At this point I should note that, between disabling the defenses and the assault, one of the heroes was killed and replaced by his granddaughter, but I digress. Anyways, I managed to find a weapon that I thought for sure would help me defeat them easily...but, much to my dismay, the weapon was a fake! I mean, who keeps fake weapons in their base? But, anyways, my commander was fed up with my constant bungling. I tried my hardest to get him to change his mind, but it was no use. He then cast me out of my dimension.

So that brings us to where we are now. Wandering the Rift has really given me time to reflect on my past choices. And I’ve gotta say...I made some really bad choices. And I have those four heroes, the Warriors of Light, to thank.

Bartz...I hope we meet again someday. Once you beat Exdeath, I hope we can have a rematch, mano a mano! I’ll be waiting.
